Hibernation / Hiatus / Hawesome News!!

Ola, frienderoos!!

So... we got some good news and some bad news but really, it's all good news.

BAD NEWS: We just played our last show of 2009 at Toronto's El Mocambo and it was rad.

GOOD NEWS: We played our last show this year because we're going into pre-production for our next album.

This past weekend Ed, myself and our manager Alex traveled to Montreal to meet with a producer who's name cannot be mentioned at this time. I will however say that our meeting was super successful and it's safe to say we'll be teaming up with this individual to make the best Big Stereo album ever!!

As we progress more, we'll have more to write about here. Until then however, hold on tight - there are some new demos of songs which will inevitably appear on our next record up on our Myspace page. Thanks to all our loyal and devoted fans & friends who have stuck by us. We promise this short hiatus will be SO fucking worth it!

Shit!

100% DONE!!!

WE'RE FINALLY DONE!!

We just came back from a 4-day camping weekend to celebrate the completion of our album. It was awesome! There's actually an interesting story about the album and our camping weekend.

It all started Wednesday night when we were finishing the album. We were at the studio with Bernie, our mastering guy. Everything was going great - we burnt the master CD and copies for all of us.
Our plan was to go straight to bed that night because we were waking up for 7am to go camping. I think it was around midnight when Steve called Ed's cell phone (Ed was sleeping at my place that night). Apparently, on his way home, Steve listened to the album and noticed a few errors that needed to fixed ASAP because in the morning, before camping, Bodan was supposed to drop off the master CD at the production house.
To cut a long story short, from midnight until 4am Ed and I listened to the album and make sure there were no more errors that we missed. After listening to the record we went to bed, nerve-racked and scared that there will be delays on our album.
In the morning, we left a long detailed message with Bodan explaining the problems and what we should do about it. Lucky for us that day Bernie was off so Bodan was able to get together with Bernie and fix all the problems. Safe to say, Bo was able to deliver our album on time and it's currently being pressed for all our fans to enjoy.

Recording this record has been a long and bumpy ride. We've gone through 2 drummers, re-recorded the drum tracks 3 times, recorded 16 songs, dropped 4, royally screwed up 1 song only to finally fix it, saving ourselves heart attacks... I can't even begin to think of more things that went wrong. This album took us over 2 years to complete and now that it's done we're so excited to play shows and share our work with everyone who has waiting so long.

We will recieve the album back at the end of the month. When we get them back, all our fans will recieve details as to how they can get a copy VIA Myspace messaging.

Here is the official track listing:
01 What Now
02 Something Real
03 That Striped Dress
04 The Mediator / The Pearl Jam
05 Like Stars
06 Pale Green
07 Slowly I'm Falling Apart / The Porcelain Jam
08 I Do Not Think So
09 What Love Is
10 It's Hard
11 It Must Be For Change
12 Adore

Thank you to everyone who has waited and supported us throughout the recording of this record. We hope everyone enjoys the end product as much as we do. We look forward to playing hundreds of shows all across the country for our fans and friends!!!

We love you,
Andrew

OMG - We're 99.9% FINISHED!!!

Holy crap!

We've been so busy but it's been so worth it and now we're almost done. Here's a recap of what's happened this past week...

First off - WE FINISHED MIXING!! Dudes and dudettes, our album sounds dope!! This past weekend we were working 17hr days, Friday-Sunday - Mixing from 10am to 4am, no breaks (hardly even for food). It was painful but it's sounds so good and we're so stoked!!

Second: All songs are currently being mastered. This shouldn't take too long.

Third: Artwork and Photos have all been completed. Our cover art was painted by an amazing Toronto artist named, Lori Dell . View a sample of our cover below! Our photos were done by us - they look awesome. There's nothing more to really say about that other than THEY ROCK. hahah

Today, I got our album copy written. I'm so stoked because of this. I feel so good - you have no idea. Just have to mail a copy to the United States when it's pressed and we'll be officially copy written. WE CAN SUE PEOPLE NOW!!

Right now, all we really have to do is send all the images and layout templates to our man Eric to design a booklet for us. We have the basic ideas down, all we need is an expert to execute our vision. Once that's done and the mastering is done, we have to send the audio and booklet to our manufacturer to get them pressed and by the end of the month, it'll be in our hands.

THE ALBUM WILL BE DONE AT THE END OF THE MONTH. Isn't that exciting?

We have one show in Uxbridge booked for our first CD release party. There will be more to come in Toronto and area so PLEASE check out our Myspace page for future dates and info on our Uxbridge show! It's just a matter of booking more shows now.

Thanks for being there for us - we truly love our fans and friends!!

Check out this sample image of our cover art!!!

MIXING LIKE A BUNCH OF ANIMALS!!

'Ello there beauties and beasts...

Andrew here writing a quick hello/update on our record.

Things today (and the past few days) have been SUPER productive/amazing. We've got so much done and we're so friggin' close I can taste it. Tonight we wrapped-up song 9 of 12. Tomorrow we'll be mixing "The Mediator" and "Adore".

Today we worked on a few tracks primarily "What Now" and "I Do Not Think So". We completely mixed "What Now" today and even added a few quick treats in there too. I'm not going to spoil anything but I just want to say they are tastey audio treats and I can't wait for you to snack on them. "I Do No Think So" was already mixed... we in-fact already got it back from Bernie (our mastering tech) but we noticed a few things that needed tweaking (hi-hats; too loud. kick; too quite. yo-mamma; too fat)... so we tweaked them and now we're happy.

As Ed was mixing and Dan and I were giving input (Steve's at his cottage partying it up with granny and grandpa), I put in a bunch of video game time. I played a lot of Sonic III, Street Fighter II, and Maximum Carnage. Being the mature young man that I am, I can honestly say that I got my ass served in each and every one of those games. For the hell of it, here is a picture of M. Bison, the gayest/hardest character to beat in Street Fighter. I hate him. I couldn't beat him.

YAY - Stay tuned for more blabber about our amazing new record.

PEACE OUT,

-andrew

Mastering!

Just a quick hello...

HI!

So, we've decided on our mastering technician. His name is Bernie! He's REALLY good. We sent him "It's Hard" to test him out - not only did he do an amazing job but he went over and above our expectations. He gave us a few mixing tweeks in order to make the Mastering process run a lot smoother and the end result to be even more polished.

We're really stoked and so should you, our fans!! Yay! Our album is almost here and we're going nuts trying to finish it for all of you.

I was bored at work today so I beat Mario 2 on my computer. I took screen shots to prove it.

We'll have more updates shortly. Until then, enjoy the tunes on our Myspace
We love you,

DAY FOUR-HUNDRED-AND-SIXTY-TWO: I Love Mixing.

Hi hi,
Yesterday Ed mixed "That Striped Dress" and it's like thunder. The bridge is so thick - it's like a brick wall of guitars. Before the piano solo, during the organ phrase after the bridge, there's this almost eerie almospheric sound just peaking out of the background. I love the way it's been mixed into the track. This will be song six of twelve completely mixed - we're getting so close. I keep telling Ed, it sounds like every song he mixes sounds better than the last. I'm so excited for everyone to hear this album.

We think we've found the right guy to master the album. We've sent off "It's Hard" for a test mastering to see if this engineer is the right one.

I'm about to meet Dan at the studio. We're going to set-up the studio for rehearsal. Dan got new drums and they are shiny. I believe he also got new cymbals. He told me he also got his hair trimmed - looks more like a mullet apparently.

Anyways, gotsta runnn.

Talk to ya'll later.

July Update...update...update....

Okay, here's the deal:

WE'RE SOOO CLOSE. We've finished recording EVERYTHING and We're onto mixing right now and it's sounding so rediculous.

We've mixed 5.5 songs out of 12.

Just looking at places that will do mastering for us. We're also getting some cover design ideas going. There are lots of ideas floating around.. too many actually - so we're trying to sort through all of them and choose the most appropriate.

Last Saturday we play our first show in a while, and first with Dan as our drummer. Thanks to everyone who came out to Wild Wing, Uxbridge to show support and ride the bull. We had a great time and are looking forward to doing it again.

Stay posted - we're so very close and can't wait for everyone to hear our work.

MAY UPDATE ya ya ya ya !

Ello Friends,

So, Ed and I have been working tirelessly trying to complete vocals for this puppy (the puppy being the album). We've seriuosly blazzed through most of it - last night we finished "It's Hard" and tonight we'll be finishing "What Love Is".

It's been really crazy lately - A part of me was really nervous before we started vocs. I honestly was putting it off as long as I could. Now that most of it's done and things sound rad, I don't know what I was afraid of. Silly me, tricks are for kids, and clown and Mr Kite.

So ya, progress: Once vocals are finished (two more songs - "What Love Is" & "That Striped Dress") we need to track a hand-full of instrumental parts that we either forgot or aren't happy with - This should take us to about two weeks from now. At that time (since we love doing things ourselves and we don't have a huge budget) we'll be mixing the album at our studio. When I say we, I mean "WE". All four of us will be mixing - tossing around different opinions, trying to make it sound as good as possible. The whole mixing process should only take a weekend plus one day or two. (why didn't I just say 4 days?)

So, once a band mixes an album where does it go? Answer: It goes to get mastered. What is "mastering"? Answer: Mastering is when you take a CD and bring it up to the volume and EQ standards of every other album out there. Right now our record sounds AWESOME but it's really quiet compared to most of the stuff in your CD collection.

We still need to get designs confirmed but the liner notes are all written and things are really really really taking shape and sounding grrreat!!

This weekend we'll be taking it easy - Dan's putting on "Funday Sunday" in Uxbridge this Sunday from 3pm - 12am. We'll be there rockin' out!! If you want to come, check out Dan's promo page... http://www.myspace.com/manshavepromo

Until next time - peace out friends,

Quick lil update

Today was the most incredible day of recording...

We tracked all of the vocals for Pale Green and it is absolutely amazing.. it nearly brought me to tears hearing it over at the end of the night... simply incredible...

That brings us to 8 songs with finished SOLID vocals. Just 4 more to go.. with this pace we'll be done those by next weekend.

It's looking by the end of May we'll be finished this hog, we're pretty wicked-pumped about it.

Cya soon friends,

Found a pic of Andrew, Bo and I's old band at the Dungeon in Oshawa - which is apparently closing down at the end of this month.. kinda sad.. hope all the young bands in the area can find other venues to play at, the Dungeon was always good for giving new bands a chance... incredibly filthy joint but pretty fun for rockin' out

New Drummer!!!

Hello Fans & Friends,
It is with great pleasure that we present Bodan Mulholland on drums!

Over the past few months we’ve been searching for a new drummer - in the meantime, Bo has been filling-in on drums to prepare us for a few upcoming shows (TBA). After much consideration, we’ve decided that it would be the wisest decision to adopt Bo into the band.

Bodan, formerly of Crush Luther, has been our friend for years and years and years. He actually used to play in a band with Andrew and Ed many years ago called "Yesterday’s Gone". We have alot of chemistry together - many of our rehearsals start off with hour-long jam session where we all feed off each others grooves and energy, and Bo really fits into this well.

We’re all very happy and things are moving along smoothly. Much more progress on the album has been made and the band is sounding better than ever!

Look out for upcoming shows. We’ll be posting shortly.

Thanks guys,

Band Meeting/Practice.... Practice/Meeting... Practing... Meetice...

Yeah I dunno!

So a lot has been happening lately with the band, things that we will explain more in our next video blog but we are still moving! We're getting closer to finishing our album, just doing a bit more editing/mixing and putting on Andrew's vocals. It's getting there! I'm thinking with sending everything off to be mastered and getting the Cds pressed they should be out and available for everyone by the start of Spring - so that's pretty friggin exciting! Then after that: shows - whole lot of em.

With pretty much every song on the album getting revamped to rock harder and groove that much more it's pretty awesome just to sit there and listen over what we've somehow found a way to create... then we realize.. frig, gotta keep working. I dig it and am real proud of what we've all put in to this. Yeah, it's taken a bit longer than we thought but we never wanted to rush this, just wanted to make it the best we could make it... so when it's time we'll have it out to you.

We hope you will enjoy this as much as we do,

ALL GUITARS FINISHED!

Hello my dearest of friends and to everyone else who I'm sure I don't mind, just haven't really had a chance to get to know you yet...

So this weekend we finished all of my guitar. Andrew and I have been going pretty hard at these guitar lines lately so it's been kinda grueling but sure is rewarding to have more stuff completed, we High-Fived over it...

So now what next? Hmm well there's some editing... Andrew will be adding more midi and laying down some trumpet... then time to start on vocals...

We're friggin gettin' there!

Bye for now chums,

Boy Howdy

Hi hi hi,
So I've finished guitars and Ed is almost done too. Today we're going to be finishing off 4 songs that Ed hasn't done yet, plus we're doing all his guitar solos. Mmmm, that should be fun, eh?!!
We're also getting a new computer next week. Recording has been kinda hard with a computer that only has 512Mb of RAM... woo hoo, pretty soon we'll be ballin' with RAM so editing and tracking vocals and all the extras should be easy as pie.
We ended up scrapping "What Now" and starting from scratch. When we layed down the bed tracks for that song we totally screwed-up the tempo so we had to start over. I think the only thing left to do for that song is redo Bass Guitar. YAY!

Last weekend we were away playing a show in Arnprior, Ontario. We stayed at a cottage and had a great time. For the show we printed, burnt & stuffed 100 demos to sell at the show... I think we only sold 30 and a few buttons.
Below is a photo from our "Big Stereo production line", making CDs at the cottage.

Here's another photo from the studio. I'm doing something, Steve is reaching for the camera, PJ & Lisa are snuggling and Ed shot the photo...

So I guess we'll see y'all later,
Andrew

P.S: This album is starting to sound amazing. Thought I'd let you know.

Update

Howdy Hey There,
Andrew here!! Hi!! So I'm pretty much done guitar... I know, I know, I said that before but we decided to redo alot of stuff and my guitar was one of them. After I do a few acoustic guitar tracks we'll be done my guitar for sure.
After that, we're going to tackle the remaining Lead Guitar and then we move onto all the fun little additions and productions.

Our friend Emma Dawn is going to be helping me with Trumpet pretty soon. Our friend Clark MacGregor is going to help PJ lay down some wicked percussion parts. After that I'm taking the recording over to my place to work on Keys and Vocals!! HOO WOO. Should be fun - just wanted to update you folks on what the deal is. Cool? COOL!!!

Friggin hard at work...

Hi Friends,

It's sure nice seeing you again.. what's it been, like 5 months? I like that shirt you're wearing, looks real smart.

So we are going pretty hard into this recording... the problem was we kept getting shows and would have to keep putting the recording on hold to prepare for em... but now we've said "NO MORE!" and we're going to concentrate on this album until it is finished... well besides playing Canada Day with Crush Luther in PJ/Luther's hometown - Arnprior... BUT THAT'S IT! FRIG!

So anyways, we're back at it pretty hard, Peej is only a few tracks away from finishing all of the drums, I hear Steve is all done his bass, Andrew and I have been going back and forward doing our guitars and are probably half way there.. so we're getting there friends! Check back here and our myspace in the next week or two for some images/vids from the recording sessions, should be wicket.

Alright that's all the business talk over with, let's go get some ice cream.

NXNE '07 Submissions

This year we're applying to play The NXNE Festival. There is a lengthy application process, one of the criterea being the submission of audio. Good thing we're recording an album, eh?!

We put the rest of the album on the backburner and we've been focusing on 'That Striped Dress' and 'Something Real'. Aside from small finishing touches here and there, both songs are looking quite polished.

The deadline is this Friday. We'll be posting both songs on Myspace for all to listen to.

DAY FIFTEEN-EIGHTEEN: Lead Gtr., Organ, Drums.

Hello Fellow Space Cadets,
So we've been pretty busy over the past few days. After Andrew finished tracking Rhythm Guitar we moved onto Organ/Keyboards, Lead Guitar & PJ's Drums.

Andrew did keys for five songs. We're particularly excited about his work on 'Something Real'. After he tracked the organ for this song we ran the playback threw an old Fender tube head and Marshall cab with a Cry-Baby Wah. You should hear the Funk-Wah-Organ-Madness. It blows all of our minds and manhoods.

Ed came over to the studio to lay down a few lead tracks. We wanted to focus on some of the songs that PJ would be working on just so we could get a better idea when working on drums. Ed blew threw 'Striped Dress', 'What Love Is', and 'Something Real'.

When PJ came down from Ottawa we got to work right away... or as soon as we could. We had a bit of an issue with mics and cables. We didn't take into account that a few of our mics were being used offsite so we had to scramble and find some good shit last minute.
PJ is heavenly. PJ got through 3 songs and they are wonderful. When Andrew tracked the reference drums tracks we were going for the "Yea, editing and sample replacing should do the trick" method. Hahaha... never again will we take that approach. Thank our lucky stars we have PJ. This dude flys through songs with little flaw. We rarely question anything he does. Pretty much anything PJ does, goes.. unless maybe his Pantera influences stick out too boldly. We're extremely fortunate to have found this great friend, musician and gay lover... oops, I mean... not... gay...lover??? Hmmm...

Anywho - nothing but good work has been going on here and we're proud to announce... well, nothing at this point. But one of these days the record will be done and it'll be amazing. Until then, we'll keep posting and pretending to be busy when really we're just drinking beer and breaking guitar strings.

PEACE,

Home Dawgs,
I'm done all the rhythm guitar. We're full-on for this recording. Lead Guitar begins tomorrow.

DAY THIRTEEN: Rhythm Guitar

So yesterday we finally started my rhythm guitar. It went really well. We spent the first hour making adjustments with the amps to get the right tones. I blew through about 9 songs out of 15. Hooray! I realy enjoyed working on guitar yesterday.

Today Ed should be coming over to the studio and hopefully we can wrap-up the Rhythm and start Ed's lead guitar. For effects we patched both mine and Ed's pedal boards together and combined some of the sounds. For the solo in What Love Is, I used my Blues Driver with Ed's Line6 Digital Delay, TS7 Tubescreamer and his Holygrail Spring Reverb. Like I said before, we spent alot of time on guitar tones. I can only predict that we'll be spending alot more time on it when it comes to lead guitar.

I'm going to take off but I'll leave you with this photo Ed took.

PEACE,

Update

Wow,
It's been over a month since we've posted anything. We have been extremely busy and we are sincerely sorry.

This weekend we will begin tracking Andrew's guitar. It should take a week or so to get his guitar parts down. We are super stoked about this because we have alot of cool toys laying around the studio. After Andrew's guitar parts are down, Ed will start tracking guitar. Right now we're trying to decide on all the guitar tones to use. We have a lot of sounds that we like and a lot of ideas floating around so we'll see how it turns out.

In about a week or so we'll begin replacing the demo drums with PJ. We've been working really hard with him, learning parts and getting ready to kick it on this record.

On a side note, last Saturday we played an extremely sucessful show. There was a large turn-out and we would like to thank the promoters, fans, technicians and all other bands for sharing the night with us. Enjoy these photos from last week.

We'll keep you posted on the recording process.

Take care,

DAY TWELVE [point five]: Demoing/Rehearsing

As you may already know, we have a new member in the band, PJ. We've been doing alot of practicing lately, working on the live set-list and boning-up on our 3-part harmonies.
As well as practing, we've been doing a little prep work for the record. Last night, while waiting for Ed & Steve to arrive at the studio, I was fooling around on guitar, trying out some new ideas. Eureka! I figured something out. I came up with the arrangement and the basic chord progression and then waited around for Steve. When he arrive we quickly set-up to record the guitar part, followed by a quick "once-over" on the drums. Sounds great! Ed came by and layed down some sweet tones on his guitar using his brand new digital delay pedal.

If we can manage, I'd love to work on this song and include it on the record. It's pretty damn sweet... and the way I look at it, our fans deserve some new tunes.

Okay, I'm outta here - this weekend we're rehearsing with PJ...
Peace,

DAY TWELVE: Bass in your face.

Goodafternoon, this is Steve & Andrew reporting,

Tonight was day twelve and we recorded more bass. I [Steve] thought today was "rockin'". I [Andrew] also thought it was "rockin'".

We basically wanted to say hi to everyone and tell them the recording is going well and we topped off four songs on bass tonight.

Steve, is there anything you like to write the folks at home?

Yes Andrew, I have decided that on the album I would like Bodan to play bass in "The Mediator"

Wow, really? Sweet - you never told me. I'm going to kick your ass, Slut!

Sweet - you never told me.

What? You're retarded.

New Drummer...

G'Day, Y'All,
Just came back from an incredible weekend of try-outs and rehearsing and video-gaming and drinking a few beers.

P. J. Herrick is our new drummer. I like him. He came down Friday night from Ottawa and arrived at 4am the next morning. We woke and had pancakes then proceeded to "try him out". Let's just say I knew he was in band when I popped a blood vessil in my finger trying to keep-up with him while playing bass.
Today was sweet too. We woke up from sleeping at Ed's bachelor pad, bought Powerade and then came to the studio for day two of rehearsing. Friggin even better than yesterday. I was totally satisfied by the way everything played out this weekend and with Peej.

So ya, that's rad. Enjoy these new band picks - WOOO!!!

DAY ELEVEN: Bass-aramalamadingdong

After all having long and stressful days, we journeyed over to Andrew's place with pizza in hand, to begin the bass recording process. Everything in the studio was already set up for recording from Saturday's prep work, so we pretty much got down and dirty with the music as soon as we arrived. Today we worked on "That Striped Dress" and "Leila" and aside from minor recording details and edits, we have them both pretty much done. I sat in the studio with my lovely Fender Jazz bass while Ed in the other room, worked hard at the computer recording all the pretty notes I made. Andrew sat back with his gorgeous Sting Ray in hand as he worked on fine tuning the bass lines for the songs. We also worked on "Like Stars" and "What Love Is", and although we didn't record them, we started preparing them for the next time we are in the studio. Due to work schedules and family gatherings on the Thanksgiving weekend, we won't be back in the studio to record until Tuesday, where we hope to devote over ten hours to working on bass.

This record is becoming more and more exciting as it goes on. That's not to say that it isn't difficult, becuase there is no use in hiding that it is. However, the result will be well worth the challange.

Thanks for listening.

Peace & Love.

DAY SEVEN to TEN: drumming, editing, brushing teeth & beginning bass.

We've been tirelessly editing drums. Still not 100% done but we started tracking bass today.
In two weeks we have a cool dude named PJ coming down from Ottawa to try-out for our band. We have good feelings about him and he's a really great drummer.

DAY FIVE/SIX: Drums Complete!!!

I'm very proud to announce that drums are done. Last night we topped off the cake by finishing "I Do Not Think So", and "It Must Be For Change".

Next step: drum editing. So far we've finished editing four songs out of fifteen.

We're going to take a break from blogging until we start tracking bass. We'll let you know in about a week.

DAY FOUR: Blood Blisters

hahaaaa... now it's just turning into a joke, isn't it?

More drumming! It seriously sounds great, it's just a whole lotta work that I wasn't expecting.
Tonight we worked on "What Love Is", "Pale Green", "Something Real" & our new song, "The Mediator". We also worked on getting me some pretty nasty blood blisters on my hands. Ed says, "Man, it's from playing so hard and so well", and I say, "No, it's just from holding the sticks wrong". It's really too bad Steve wasn't there because he'd probably be all like, "Let me put some DQ dipped cone on those aching blood blisters of yours, Andrew".

"The Mediator" is a cross between RHCP & maybe a bit of "That Striped Dress" kind of Maroon 5ish feel. It's about an abusive father and talks about how things like that sometimes go unnoticed and there is no one to mediate the fights. But ya, you'll have to hear for yourselves.

Tomorrow & Friday we are working on more drums - should probably be done by next Monday, the 25th.

See you soon - sorry, no pictures tonight.
PEACE

DAY TWO/THREE: Tracking Drums

Wow! For anyone who has ever recorded drums before you can feel my pain right now. I am so tired from playing drums over and over and over and over and over again. IT SOUNDS GREAT....I'm just damn tired.

So we've recorded about seven songs worth of drums out of sixteen. Our good buddy Luther Mallory from Crush Luther came by today to help with some production and everything is running very smoothly. We changed "What Now" a little bit so I'm excited for everyone to hear that. We also have some really cool demos of "Pale Green" going that we are very excited about.
Last week I demoed our new song "The Mediator" and everyone in the band is loving it. When we start tracking bass I think I'm going to ask our good friend Bodan Mulholland to play bass on that tune. I can't wait until the record comes out so all of you can enjoy the new tune.
All and all everything is sounding and coming along fabulously! Drums are definately going to take longer than expected but that's okay - as long as we don't rush anything I'm happy. Here are some new pics for all to ogle at...

(until next time) PEACE OUT BIATCHES

Darrin Pfeiffer is GOD!!!!

Good Afternoon.
Today after work I took a trip into Toronto. I met-up with a kind fellow by the name of Darrin. He manages a band of great musicians and great friends called, Crush Luther. You may also know him as an on-air personality on Edge 102.1. Long story short, this dude has more cymbals that you can shake a stick at and he's letting us borrow a few for our record. Drums are going to sound amazing!

We're starting drums on Saturday. Ed's coming over to the studio early and we are going to rock it hard-core!!! I don't know what Steve is doing because he's working right now at DQ and I can't get a hold of him.
On Sunday, Luther is going to come over to help me with drums. He's been buggin me for ever because he's totally stoked to help out with some producing, primarily on That Striped Dress. I like him.

Anywho, we'll have more pics and updates soon... my dad ordered Chinease so I have to go eat.

PEACE & SMELLY CHEESE,
Andrew

Ed/Steve Day 1: Demoing/Bed Tracking

they are good

DAY ONE: Bed Tracks

Hello all,so last night was our first official day of recording for the album. We got a lot done and we are very proud of ourselves.
We started the bed tracks of songs, preparing for drums. I think we got about 9 or 10 songs in the bag.
Next week we get cymbals to use for drums because mine suck....alot! Brent Mills from Crush Luther is hooking us up with some cymbals from their Manager's collection. Should be pretty sweet.
We're recording a few older tunes that havn't been played in a while so we are going to call on a good buddy of ours, Dan Mulholland, to demo a few of those songs with us just so we can get a better feel and approach when recording.
All and all, everything is good. I friggin wish my studio was bigger though... we friggin have cables everywhere, mics hanging anywhere imaginable, drums, guitars, amps, bongos, paper lying everywhere - I think I need a maid.

Wooo Recording!

Hello there friends,
So we are starting up recording which is definitely one of the greatest experiences with doing music - getting to experiment and create some amazing sounds, cool licks, intense vocal harmonies - all very much fun. We have also been given a very sweet guitar/bass amp to use from a good friend of ours - this puppy is 600 watts - so far we have yet to venture past 1 on the volume knob... apparently is equally awesome on both guitar and bass... was made in the 70's or late 60's - same model used by the Guess Who as well apparently... fun.
But yes recording - revamping of tunes and creating several new ones that will surely melt faces. We will keep you posted with updates and humorous stories. Hope you will enjoy at least a fraction as much as we will.
